We live on a small acreage in Central East Alabama with our children, a small herd of goats, dogs and a very spoiled cat.
We started out with a couple of goats (doesn't everyone?) to help keep the brush on our property under control. This first pair of does were Pygmy goats. When we added a few Nigerian Dwarf goats, we fell head over heels in love with their sweet, loving nature, and knew our hearts belonged to Nigerian Dwarf goats.
Having shown and bred pedigreed dogs for many years in the past, it was always going to happen that we became interested in the conformation of our goats, and we started studying the breed standard, and looking into bloodlines and pedigrees.
We soon made the switch to entirely registered Nigerian Dwarf goats and registered with the American Dairy Goat Association. We believe it's important to breed with a view to improvement of our herd, so we reviewed pedigrees and searched for a collection of lovely does and well-conformed, handsome, easy to manage bucks. We now keep a small herd of lovely, sweet-natured goats that live together in goat harmony and are a source of amusement and love, and who continue to bring us pleasure.
Some people have asked us about our name, Starx Farm. We pronounce it, Starks Farm, which is a family name, and honors a past family dairy farm.
